Operation Christmas Child

Once again the children in St. Brigid's have been very generous and have donated lots of shoe boxes for children in poorer countries. The children put toys, sweets and clothes in the shoe boxes and covered them in Christmas wrapping paper. These boxes will be given to children in other countries. We watched a DVD in school that showed the children receiving the shoe boxes last year. The children were really happy with their presents. For some of them, it was the only Christmas present they would get. You can find out more about Operation Christmas Child on www.samaritanspurse.ie

Bríd Freeney Competition

Every year we have a competition called 'The Bríd Freeney Competition'. Bríd was a teacher in the school a few years ago. She was a very talented and creative woman. The teachers like to hold this competition to remember her. This year the theme was '125 Years of the GAA'. Brendan Cuddihy, from the local GAA club, Éire Óg, came in to present the prizes. Three children were picked from each class to get a prize. The slideshow to the right shows pictures of the students who got prizes.
