Boys and girls from 4th to 6th class can learn the flute after school. It is taught by Ms. Teehan. She is presently running two classes - on a Tuesday and a Wednesday. At Christmas we held a fundraising concert with Ms. Hughes' choir.

Choir
Choir is on a Thursday in the hall from 2:45 to 3:45. Our teacher is Ms. Hughes. The choir is made up of boys and girls from 4th to 6th class. We are learning lots of new songs at the moment. We held a fundraising concert at Christmas. We hope to do a show in the summer term with the money raised from the Christmas concert. This show will be a mixture of Oliver and Annie.

Bodhrán
Bodhrán is on every Wednesday for an hour after school. Elaine teaches bodhrán and the children really enjoy it.

Irish dancing
Irish dancing is on every Tuesday in the school hall. Mr. Dodd is the teacher and he works very hard. Children of all ages can partake and they don't have to be in St. Brigid's. We even have a 3 year old learning to dance!!

Short-tennis
Short tennis is on every Tuesday after school for boys and girls from 1st and 2nd class. It is on in St. Killian's Hall and Diane Cahill is the teacher.

Green School
St. Brigids is enrolled in the green school programme. The green school flag is awarded by An Taisce in conjunction with Wicklow County Council.

  • Green school (or in Europe called Eco - schools) is a European Initiative. Green schools are designed to make environmental awareness and action an intrinsic part of the life and ethos of a school for all its pupils.
  • It is a long term programme - the award once achieved needs to be renewed every two years. The award will take the form of a green flag which can be flown outside the school or displayed in the foyer.
  • We formed our committee in spring 2002. Initially we had many visits by Máire Byrne and her assistant. They introduced us to the seven point programme. We have worked really hard at trying to achieve our 7 steps. In spring 2005 we were successful and we were awarded our green flag.
  • We then had to focus on energy and much work was done on this by the Green School Committee.
  • Our green flag was renewed in June 2007.
  • We are hoping to have an assessment again in late March or early April. We are learning about water as a resource. This is part three of the project.
  • Many thanks to all the people who were involved in this.

Homework Club
Homework Club is on for an hour after school on Mondays and Wednesdays. Children from 2nd class to 6th class do their homework with help from a teacher.
